Purple Urkle

Purple Urkle aka “Purple Urple” or “The Urkle”

Purple Urkle is the gold standard Purple strain for many people. It has a sweet and skunky smell like the aromas of tropical fruit, grapes, sometimes cereal, and skunk. While remaining very relaxing and mood elevating, it’s generally not as drowsy or sleep-inducing as many other Purple strains.

Origin

This strain’s been around since the 80’s, and it became a fantastic find which came from the Emerald Triangle area of Northern California. Purple Urkle may also be referred to as “Purple Urple” and occasionally “The Urkle”. It’s generally agreeable to say that this marijuana strain is an offspring of either Mendo Purps, or GDP. It made its way into the NorCal medical marijuana clubs in the mid-90’s and has been going strong ever since. On top of that, this grandfather strain has been crossed into a wide variety of strains due to its divine coloration, smell, and overall stability.

Growing Purple Urkle

The strain grows into a bush, and is very slow in its vegetative state. It will typically just under double its original height when in flower. Purple Urkle is a slow growing strain, especially when growing outdoors. When growing outside it may take a full 5 months to flower, while flowering time indoors can be as quick as 8 weeks. As with most other Indica’s, our seed strain remains fairly short and stocky. Additionally, its yields will typically be slightly lower than average.

Use & Effects

In smaller dosages, it can be a “very easy to function on” strain. Adding to the point before, at higher dosages, it may be so relaxing to the point where you’ll want to fall fast asleep. This strain has great medicinal value, helping with general relaxation, anti-anxiety, appetite stimulation, sleep aid, and as a pain reliever. As are many heavy Indica strains, it’s effects can be very relaxing, making it the perfect strain for both insomnia and anxiety. It is also a great choice for pain management, and can most certainly be of use as an appetite stimulant.
